Antrim and Meath will meet once again as Christy Ring Cup final replay is granted

Antrim and Meath have been granted a replay in the Christy Ring Cup final after a gaffe in the score-keeping incorrectly named Meath as one-point the winners.

The replay will be played this Saturday, June 11, in Pairc Esler in Newry. Throw-in will be at 7pm.

The idea that both teams would be promoted was dismissed earlier today.

In a statement released today, the CCCC have decided that the best solution would be to replay the game, which had actually ended as a draw despite Meath being presented with the trophy at the end of the game.

"At a scheduled CCCC meeting this morning the issue of last weekend’s Christy Ring Cup final was discussed," the statement read.

"Following consideration of the referee’s report, it has been confirmed that the final score of the game was recorded incorrectly and that the game did finish in a draw (Antrim 1-20, Meath 2-17)."
