Bruno Fernandes involved in car accident but believed to have escaped serious injury

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was involved in a car accident on Monday morning, but is reportedly in stable condition and has escaped serious injuries.

While the reports are as yet unconfirmed, it is believed that the passengers as well as the 27-year-old Portuguese star have not suffered serious injuries.

It is  as yet unclear how serious the crash was and how badly damaged the Porsche he was driving is. However, Fernandes is still currently expected to train at Carrington on Monday.

Manchester United take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday night. As part of the media schedule ahead of the derby encounter, interim manager Ralf Rangnick will be addressing the media on Monday afternoon, where an update on Fernandes' condition will likely be given.

It is currently not certain whether the midfielder will be in any condition to face Jurgen Klopp's side.

Fernandes recently signed a new long-term deal at Old Trafford. The 42-cap time capped Portugal international, has helped his team win the Nations League in 2019.

He has also proven to be a vital part of the United squad since moving to Old Trafford in January 2020. He has scored  49 goals in 120 appearances in all competitions.

He won four Premier League Player of the Month awards in 2020 alone, becoming the first player to achieve the feat in a calendar year.

United are currently fifth in the Premier League, three points behind Tottenham in fourth. They have six league games remaining this season against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Brentford, Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Fernandes has missed just two Premier League games this season, one due to suspension and the other due to illness. He has started as captain in five of his 30 league outings.
