Farke | Lives should not be risked to finish the Premier League season

Norwich City manager Daniel Farke says he wants the Premier League season completed, but not at the expense of risking anyone's life during the pandemic.

The Canaries are bottom of the table, six points off safety with nine games to play.

The Premier League season has been on ice since March 13th, with a 'Project Restart' plan hoping to resume matches on June 12th subject to UK Government permission.

Farke told SKY Sports that his players 'deserve' to get the opportunity to survive in the top flight, but he says lives must not be placed in jeopardy to finish a football campaign.

"We should try everything now to finish the season, but if it's the situation that we can save with not finishing the season, just one life, we need to do this. All the money and all the good mood and all the fairness aspects are not important when it's about the life of a human being. If it's a risk and if we finish the season and we just would risk one life, or one human being, then we shouldn't do this."

The German has sympathy with Liverpool, who are 25 points clear at the top of the table and two wins away from a first league title in 30 years.

"When I think about Liverpool, I think we've all got the feeling that for their great work they deserve right now to have the chance to win the title. A team like Sheffield United, they should deserve to fight for Europe after a great season. For us, we deserve to work on our little miracle and stay in this league."
