"Well done, Everton" | Nevin praises Blues' 'cojones' to go for Ancelotti

Pat Nevin has praised Everton's hierarchy after the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti, explaining why the Blues' fortunes have turned during the Italian's reign.

Everton's win against Crystal Palace means that they sit below just Liverpool in the Premier League form table.

Everton on the up?

Speaking to The Football Show, Nevin believes that Ancelotti has brought the deft touch required to stabilise the club.

"It's been amazing to see the little things, like 'that is the correct two centre-backs, we are starting with them', said Nevin.

"Richarlison is a great example. I guess that he is the perfect guy to get the best out of Richarlison. With Richarlison, if anything, you get the feeling that he doesn't have a huge amount of respect for anyone else's opinion above his own.

"Lots of players are like that, particularly creative and skillful players. Carlo Ancelotti has been dealing with them all his life.

"He knows how to do that, to manipulate them. They are not the most complex of characters, and is Richarlison the most complex that he has come across? Probably not.

"I love the fact that he is getting all of these tiny little things that are a wee bit better, and then they zoom up the league.

"There is his decent team. Not much more than that, but a decent team - that is good enough in the current Premier League."

Hierarchy praise

Nevin praised particular praise for Everton's hierarchy for deciding to go for Ancelotti to begin with.

"Well done, Everton.

"What a big call that was to get Carlo Ancelotti. We all thought 'big managers go to big teams'.

"To have the cojones to go for him, spend the money and it is turning out to be an absolute cracker of a decision."
