Eriksen could make move away in January - Spurs captain Lloris

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has hinted Christian Eriksen may leave the Premier League club in January.

The Denmark midfielder was tipped with a move away after saying he wanted a new challenge earlier in the summer but he remained at Spurs after the European transfer deadline passed on Monday.

Despite Eriksen's contract running out next summer, Loris insists his team-mate remains focused on doing his best for Tottenham.

"Like he showed in the last game against Arsenal, he's going to be committed toward the club and his teammates, there's no problem about that."

Eriksen said this summer that he was ready for a new challenge but a move to Spain wasn't realised, and the play-maker doesn't regret those comments.

“I wish I could decide myself, like you can do in the Football Manager, but I can’t do that sadly.

"I don’t think it was wrong to say that it was time for a new challenge. But this is football and you never know what happens in football. A lot of things play a part.”

Tottenham have picked up five-points from their opening four games of the new Premier League season and trail leaders Liverpool by seven-points.

Lloris admits his side are already playing catch-up.

‘Liverpool and Man City have the experience. They are really competitive and I think at the moment there is something missing for us. ‘We will see later in the season because things can turn very quickly in football and the most important thing is to stay focused on ourselves, get points and to get the consistency through the league.

"We will see where we are in the table in April, March because it will be the moment when you can win or lose the European places or the trophies.

"Unfortunately, for us, we didn’t have the start that we expected even if we had some good results against City and Arsenal away from home we should have done better against Newcastle because we all know the importance of the home games. ‘When I talk about consistency, we have to be able to win that type of game and there is already a gap between them and us."
