England midfielder Jack Grealish banned from driving for nine months

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has been banned from driving for nine months and fined over £80,000 for two motoring offences.

The 25-year-old previously admitted to two counts of careless driving.

The first offence related to a crash at Dickens Heath, near Solihull, on March 29th, and the second incident occurred near Villa's training ground on October 25th.

The first incident involved Grealish reversing his Range Rover into parked cars following a lockdown party.

Sentencing Grealish, District Judge John Bristow said:

"The offence on March 29 was committed six days after the national coronavirus lockdown was announced. You should have been at home, you do not assert you had any proper reason not to be. You should not have been driving on March 29. This is a further aggravating feature.

"The two offences were committed within seven months of each other. You have caused damage by your driving and you have driven in an intimidating way at excessive speeds on a motorway."

Grealish arrived at Birmingham Magistrates Court on foot while another man driving his car temporarily grabbed the attention of the media.

According to the BBC, this man then handed out Cadbury's Milk Tray chocolate to the waiting photographers and press.
