Derry say Bohemians fans not involved in racist abuse of Junior

Derry City have condemned the online racist abuse suffered by their striker, Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe.

The 27-year old scored the Candystripes' second goal in Monday night's 3-3 draw with Bohemians in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

Junior is currently on-loan from Dundalk, and Monday night's goal at Dalymount was his fourth in seven games for Derry.

However, the former Sligo Rovers and Bromley striker was the subject of racist abuse online on Monday night.

In a statement, the Brandywell club said, "Derry City Football Club unreservedly condemns the online abuse directed at our player, Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe this week.

"This type of behaviour has no place in our sport and supporters, staff, management and players stand wholeheartedly with Junior.

"We would also like to completely dismiss any suggestion that these comments had anything to do with supporters of Bohemians FC.

"Our two clubs have a fantastic relationship and this abuse will not be allowed to taint what was a superb game of football."
