Derry City part company with manager Declan Devine

Derry City have parted company with Declan Devine by "mutual consent" with the club bottom of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

The Candystripes have picked up just two points from their opening six games and are one of two clubs in the league yet to register a win.

Derry confirmed the news in a short statement on Thursday morning.

"Derry City FC and Declan Devine have parted company by mutual consent.

"The Board wish to thank Declan for his service to the Club and wish him well for the future."

Devine took the reigns as manager for a second time in 2019 and led Derry to a fourth-placed finish as well as the EA Sports Cup final, which they lost to Dundalk in a penalty shootout.

However, last season Derry finished seventh, just one point clear of the relegation play-off place and that form has continued into the current campaign.

Derry's next game is this Saturday away to second-placed Sligo Rovers, who remain unbeaten this season.
