Ex-Celtic star Moussa Dembele collapses at Atletico Madrid training

Atletico Madrid striker Moussa Dembele collapsed in training on Tuesday and required immediate medical attention.

The former Celtic star who signed for La Liga leaders on loan from Lyon with an option to buy, Dembele was in the process of warming up with teammates when he fell backwards.

Seconds after his collapse, medics rushed to the 24-year-old's aid and teammates were quick to assist when an ambulance arrived shortly thereafter.

Although it is believed to have taken around one minute for the Frenchman to regain consciousness, he was able to stand back up and walk unaided from the pitch.

Dembele was eventually pictured leaving the training facility and appeared to be full recovered.

After their Champions League exit at the hands of Chelsea, Atletico Madrid's attention will now be squarely focused on La Liga and securing their title triumph.

Currently four points clear of second-placed Barcelona in top spot, Diego Simeone's side will take on Sevilla next when club football returns in early April.

As for Dembele, the former Fulham striker has been an irregular presence in Simeone's plans since joining on loan back in January.

With only a handful of minutes to his name, the Argentine manager has nevertheless stated the importance of what someone in the position of Dembele can offer.

"I always say that the number of minutes is not important," stated Simeone. "What matters is the quality of these minutes.

"I hope that Dembele can bring us what we hoped for when he arrived in the team."
