De Bruyne out of Man City's game against Wolves

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed Kevin De Bruyne will miss this weekend's Premier League match against Wolves.

The midfielder has a groin injury though he's expected to be fit after the international break.

Guardiola admits the Belgium's recent injury record means he has to be managed at times throughout a season:

"No, but sometimes he is not playing or is a substitute, like at Norwich. When he feels good, he is good," he said of De Bruyne's latest setback.

"After the international break he will be ready. It is not a big problem."

With John Stones and Aymeric Laporte currently injured, Fernandino has been deputising at centre-half and Guardiola feels the Brazilian has been settling well in the position:

"He didn't have many minutes in his legs before these three games.

"In previous seasons, except for the last part of last season, he has played every three days for 11 months so I think he can do it."

Defender Kyle Walker was left out of the England squad yesterday and his City boss wants the former Spurs full-back to force his way back into Gareth Southgate's plans.

“It’s a big challenge for Kyle to show the England manager how good he is.

"Our life in sports is about challenge, about duels, targets, and he has one in front of him in every single game to show how good he is to come back into the team".
