David Collins explains how Galway can win the battle against Tipp

Former Galway hurler David Collins feels getting the ball to ground will be key for the team as they take on reigning All Ireland champions Tipperary in the Allianz Hurling League final on Sunday.

Tipp will be looking to follow up their Liam McCarthy Cup triumph for 2016 with further glory ahead of a bid to retain the All Ireland in this summer's Championship.

Collins cites physicality and applying it in the right areas at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.

"Our game plan going into Tipperary last year was to get the breaking ball and get the ball to ground and I think that's going to be one of the key areas this year as well," said Collins on Off The Ball.

"If Galway can get it to ground, I think they have the physicality and the ability to win the lower ball.

"What I mean by get it to ground is break the ball down so you're not giving primary possession to Tipperary, they're not catching the ball over you.

"Once you have it to ground, you can win it from there and that aggression will come out. I think Galway are better in that area. Even when you look at 2015 and even going back to 2012, we brought that physicality to the game and we attacked everything. There were two or three fellas on the breaking ball and once we had it there, we were winning the ball."
