Darragh Kenny up to 8th place in Showjumping's world rankings

Offaly’s Darragh Kenny has risen to a career-high eighth place in the new Longines World Show Jumping rankings.

The Florida-based jumper helped Ireland to victory in the FEI Nations Cup World Final in Barcelona, which also secured Olympic team qualification for next summer's games in Tokyo.

Kenny also scored an individual five-star win in Barcelona and recorded impressive results in the United States last month at shows in Tryon, Washington and Lexington.

He'll be looking to land more ranking points in his first European World Cup outing of the season this weekend at Verona in Italy.

Bertram Allen is the next best Irishman on the standings in 31st with Shane Sweetnam at number 35.

Derry’s Daniel Coyle has moved up nine places to 38th, Shane Breen is 43th with Paul O’Shea in 48th, which means Ireland now have six riders inside the worlds top 50.

Wexford's Allen is ranked second in the FEI's under-25 rankings, just ahead of Daniel Coyle at number three, while Mikey Pender is just outside the top 10 at 12th.

In the FEI World Dressage Rankings, Olympian Judy Reynolds is at number 13 with her horse Vancouver K.

While in Eventing, Cathal Daniels is the highest-ranked Irish rider at number 11.
