With many Manchester United fans dispirited by the lack of transfer activity carried out by the club, John O'Shea explored the incredible potential of the young Welsh recruit, Daniel James.
A matter of months after bringing his illustrious playing-career to an end, John O'Shea is already focused on the challenges that lay ahead.
Embracing the alternative world of football coaching, O'Shea, like many before him, believes he has found the next best thing to playing itself.
With the majority of his career taking place under Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, O'Shea's final games were played out with Reading in the Championship.
It was an occasionally chastening experience for the 38-year-old defender but, with his former club in mind, one that gave him a first-hand experience of United's young Welsh recruit, Daniel James.
"I didn't get to see him," admitted O'Shea with a laugh on Off the Ball, "he was that quick.
A Swansea City player then, O'Shea has high hopes for the young winger,
"He going to bring something that the club felt they've been missing the last few years," suggested O'Shea.
"I don't think the club will be expecting too much of him too soon and he will probably be seen as a player for the future.
"It's a huge jump from Swansea to United, but he is one to keep an eye on.
"There was a clip of him from one of the pre-season games, and he joined in a counter-attack where he looked faster than Marcus Rashford."
One player expected to deliver immediately is Harry Maguire and, despite concerns regarding the English centre-half, O'Shea believes he will improve the team decisively.
Citing Maguire's ability to constantly step up to the next challenge, you can watch John O'Shea's interview in its entirety here.
