Cork City confirm double signing ahead of top flight return

Cork City have bulked out their squad ahead of their return to action in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

Neale Fenn's side have signed striker Scott Fenwick, while Kit Elliott joins on loan from Huddersfield Town.

Fenwick has bounced around non-league sides in the North-East of England for the past decade, and was most recently with National League North side, Blyth Spartans.

19-year old Elliott has only recently signed his first professional contract at Huddersfield, and his move to Cork will be a first taster of senior football.

"We feel that this is the next step in Kit’s development both on and off the pitch," said Huddersfield's Academy Manager Emyr Humphreys.

"This move ticks a lot of boxes for us as it will provide Kit with a number of difference experiences; moving to a different country, getting used to a different style of football and playing at a really competitive level.

"This gives him a chance to show what he can do, and I can’t wait to see him excel at Cork City."

Cork only managed 1 goal in their five league outings pre-lockdown, and Fenn will be hopeful the additions of Fenwick and Elliott can help change their fortunes in front of goal.

The Leesiders' season resumes on Sunday with the visit of Bohemians to Turner's Cross.

"They’re both out and out number 9s," Fenn said.

"Kit’s strength is his hold-up play. He’ll bring that aspect to our front line, which we probably don’t have at the moment, but he’s still young and needs to learn the game.

"Scott is also a number 9, he’s a hardworking player with a good eye for goal and his goalscoring record in the lower leagues in England is second to none."

Meanwhile, Cork have confirmed that Darragh Crowley will spend the rest of the season on loan at Cobh Ramblers.
