Seamus Coleman back training ahead of the Merseyside derby

Seamus Coleman has returned to training with Everton after overcoming the hamstring injury that forced him to pull out of the Republic of Ireland squad.

The Irish captain missed out on the Euro 2020 play-off semi-final against Slovakia and the UEFA Nations League games this week against Wales and Finland after pulling up in the Blues' 4-2 win against Brighton in the Premier League.

The English top-flight leaders face arch-rivals and reigning champions Liverpool at lunchtime this Saturday and Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Allan and Andre Gomes are also set to rejoin the squad after overcoming knocks.

"Andre Gomes is available for Saturday, no problem. Allan started to train with the team this week. If nothing happens in the next few days he will be available to play against Liverpool," the Italian told evertontv.

“I think Seamus is going to be good, too, because he started to train with us on Monday. (Mason) Holgate and (Jarrad) Branthwaite are working individually. Branthwaite is closer [to returning].

“They have no problems [in their recovery programmes] but we have to wait a little bit.

“(Jean-Philippe) Gbamin is working individually, he is not here [at USM Finch Farm] yet. I think he is going to be here in 15 days and start to work apart from the team in the beginning, and then with the team.

“At the end of November, I think he can be fit to play.”

Everton have won all four of their opening games in the league this season, one of two teams yet to lose a match along with Aston Villa, and one of their star performers carried his club form on to the international stage this week.

Richarlison bagged his seventh goal in 21 Brazil appearances as the Samba Boys defeated Peru 4-2 on Tuesday night to top their 2022 World Cup qualifying group.
