Reports: Gerry O'Connor to step down as joint-manager of Clare hurlers

It has been reported that Gerry O'Connor will step away from his role as joint-manager of the Clare senior hurlers.

After three years in charge of the Banner alongside Donal Moloney, it has been reported in The Clare Echo that he will not be returning for a fourth year in charge and has informed the Clare County Board of his decision.

Appointed in 2016, the success O'Connor and Moloney enjoyed at underage level with the Clare hurlers never quite materialised at senior level.

Guiding the county to three successive All-Ireland and Munster U-21 titles, these triumphs came off the back of a run to an All-Ireland minor final with the county's promising young hurlers in 2010.

Replacing Davy Fitzgerald at the helm when the current Wexford manager departed in 2016, the duo ultimately fell short in their ambition of replicating the 2013 All-Ireland win Fitzgerald masterminded.

Having worked alongside one another for a number of years, it remains unclear whether or not Donal Moloney will continue in the role on an individual basis.
