City to return to Budapest for the second leg of Champions League tie

Manchester City will face Borussia Monchengladbach in Budapest once again in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.

City have confirmed the game will be played at the Puskas Arena due to coronavirus travel restrictions.

Germany's COVID-19 regulations mean the Bundesliga club are unable to travel to the UK to play in Manchester as originally planned.

Current restrictions would require the Monchengladbach players to quarantine for 10 days on their return to Germany if they travelled to England.

The second game will kick off at the same time (8pm) on Tuesday, March 16th with City leading 2-0 from the first leg at the same venue two weeks ago.

The venue in Hungary has been used for several European ties during the pandemic and will host Liverpool's last 16 tie against RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.

City are in Premier League action on Wednesday evening against Southampton.

Pep Guardiola's side will be looking to bounce back after their 21-game winning run in all competitions was ended by rivals Manchester United at the weekend.

City have a chance to open up a 14-point lead at the top of the table if they take all three points against the Saints, who they beat 1-0 at St. Mary's in December to start that winning run.
