Irish passport holding Celtic fans have been allowed to purchase tickets for the home stand in Valencia, while fans with British passports have been turned away, ahead of tomorrow night's clash, according to sources in Spain.
It has been reported that almost 10,000 Celtic fans have traveled to Spain for the Europa League clash tomorrow night, but only 3,000 tickets have been allocated for away supporters.
The La Liga club had warned that only Celtic fans who purchased their tickets online would be allowed into the stadium's away end and that any Celtic fan found in the home stand would be thrown out of the stadium.
Many supporters arrived at the Mestella today looking to purchase a ticket for the home stand but only those who had an Irish passport were accepted, while those holding a British passport have been turned away.
John, whose brother is a resident in Spain, told Off the Ball how his brother had purchased a ticket for the game using his Irish passport.
"For whatever reason, he doesn't even know himself, he brought his passport with him down to the stadium. He had to show his passport when he was buying it and afterwards there were a load of Scottish fans wondering how he had managed it"
"He was even quoted €90 online and the ticket only cost him €40"
Several fans have also taken to twitter this evening, describing a similar situation.
Earlier this month, the game had been deemed a 'high risk' encounter by the Spanish authorities which means there will be an increased police presence at the ground tomorrow.
Celtic have also confirmed that there will be no official fanzone in the city for tomorrow night's game.
Celtic go into the tie needing at least two goals to send the game to extra-time, having lost the reverse fixture 2-0 at Celtic Park.
