Legendary Dublin footballer Brian Mullins has died at the age of 68.
A winner of four All Ireland medals, he passed away surrounded by his family.
A midfield colossus, Mullins was central to the Dublin side managed by Kevin Heffernan that ended an eleven-year drought in the capital, by beating Galway by double scores in the 1974 final.
Two years later he would score 1-1 as Kerry were put to the sword at Croke Park. A year later, Mullins was again the fulcrum as 'Heffo's Army' proved far too strong for Armagh.
His fourth All Ireland medal would be bittersweet, coming as it did after he was sent off for striking Galway's Brian Talty. Dublin's '12 Apostles' went on to win the game by two points.
Three years later, he'd take his first steps in inter-county management with Dublin along with Robbie Kelleher and Sean Doherty, but their temporary reign proved disappointing.
Things would be far brighter on Foyleside for Mullins in the 90s, guiding Derry to league success in 1996, and an Ulster title two years later.
Away from football, he served as Director of Sport at UCD.
