Brendan Rodgers' departure from Celtic has left the fans 'stunned' and with 'a sour taste in their mouth', according to Robert Grieve of the Scottish Sun.
Rodgers was confirmed this evening as Leicester City's new manager after Claude Puel's departure from the Foxes over the weekend.
It is in Scotland, and the green and white half of Glasgow in particular, that the tremors are being felt strongly, with fans reacting badly to the news.
"Brendan Rodgers couldn't have done a better job at Celtic. It was remarkable what he did, and what he was on course to achieve with a treble-treble.
"The fact that they were so close to doing something that I do not think that will ever be done again makes it all the harder for Celtic fans to take, at such an important time with only a few months left of the season.
"He made clear from day one how much of a Celtic fan he was, and the Celtic fans bought into that. I think many of them are wondering how true that is, given the circumstances of his departure."
It was Rodgers' central role in the seeming runaway train of Celtic dominance that has left fans feeling most sore.
"Every Celtic game you go to, fans sing about Brendan Rodgers being here for ten in a row. That is very much something that the Celtic fans are thinking about," said Robert.
"That is what they think, and that is what they want. And they were convinced that Brendan Rodgers would be leading them towards that.
"There is absolutely no doubt that Celtic fans are stunned by this. It is the timing of it.
"Had he gone in the summer with eight in a row, most Celtic fans would pretty much have wished him well. I think now this leaves a sour taste in the mouth - the timing of it with big games coming up.
"This could easily disrail Celtic."
