Brady hooked by Dyche after disappointing sub showing in Fulham draw

Robbie Brady lasted just 24-minutes on the pitch for Burnley, following his second half introduction in a 1-1 draw with Fulham.

The Republic of Ireland winger endured a brief, but nightmarish, spell after he was brought on for Johann Berg Gudsmundsson.

Sean Dyche called upon Brady after a tepid first 45-minutes at Turf Moor that failed to produce a chance of note for either side.

He'd leave an impact, but not the one his manager would have anticipated.

Brady was booked six-minutes after coming on, and three-minutes after that he acrobatically failed to clear Ola Aina's chested effort.

Fulham's lead would last just three-minutes, however.

Jay Rodriguez spun away from his marker and broke down the right-hand flank. He fed Ashley Barnes who overcame a poor first touch to fire past Alphonse Areola in the Fulham goal.

But Brady's frustrations were getting the better of him. He was lucky to avoid a second booking for a cynical pull on Aina's arm.

That was enough to see him called ashore by Dyche, to be replaced by Josh Brownhill.

However, Dyche claims it was injury and not Brady's performance that forced his hand, "I had to take Robbie off today after Johann felt his hamstring, and I’m now having to make decisions to protect players, because Robbie had only just gone on and was feeling his Achilles.

“Usually the players let you know if they are not quite right, but I am having to try and safeguard players with judgement calls.

“I have to do that because if it gets any worse, we’re down another player for possibly weeks, so it’s really tough at the minute and it’s unprecedented in my time I management.

“I’ve never seen anything like it in my time here, but we’ve got to keep trying to put out a competitive side and keep going because we’ve no choice.

“The game schedule calms a little bit after Saturday and hopefully we can get some bodies back.

The point probably suited the hosts more, who remain eight-points clear of the relegation zone. Fulham end the night six-points from safety.
