Bohs reveal Bob Marley jersey design

Bohemians have unveiled another kit inspired by Bob Marley.

The club have released their new away jersey for the coming season, which includes the image of the iconic Jamaican singer.

Bohs previously revealed a similar design in 2018, but were forced to abandon plans after issues over image rights.

Their connection to Marley dates back to 1980, when he played his last ever outdoor concert at Dalymount Park.

Now, however, the club say they are satisfied they have ticked all the boxes as the new kit gets set for an introduction to League of Ireland grounds in the coming months.

10 percent of all proceeds will go towards the purchase of musical instruments and football equipment for Asylum Centres across Ireland.

“It brings me enormous joy to unveil this jersey today following years of work on the idea," Bohs CEO Daniel Lambert said.

"The Marley concert at Dalymount is one of Ireland’s truly special musical events, his only ever Irish show and, sadly, his last ever outdoor
one.

"His love of football is widely known to all, and that he played on our famous pitch before the concert, the same turf that some of the world’s best players have graced such as Pele, Best and Zidane is amazing.”

Pat Egan, who booked and organised the 1980 gig, says it's a special moment.

“I think this is a brilliant thing in terms of the memories of the day, the first major worldwide star to play an open air gig in Ireland.

"It will be an iconic shirt and help keep the Marley legend alive and well on our island. The day itself, to see him on stage in the stadium, with the huge church steeple in the background was out of this world.”

Bohemians are currently preparing for the new SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season.

They'll begin their campaign away to Sligo Rovers on February 19th.
