"I intimidate my training partners" | Irish MMA fighter Will Fleury

Irish middleweight MMA fighter Will Fleury called out his next opponent during an appearance on OTB AM on Wednesday morning.

Fleury took his record to 6-1 after he defeated Antonio Jones by unanimous decision at Bellator 224 on July 12th.

Speaking on OTB AM, Fleury said he wanted his next fight to take place on Bellator’s upcoming Dublin card and he called out undefeated English fighter, Fabian Edwards live on air.

“I 100 per cent want to be on that September card and I’ve been told I’ve a massive opportunity to be on it.

“The guy I want right now is a guy called Fabian Edwards, he’s an undefeated amateur and pro, he’s got a lot of hype behind him and I want to derail that hype train,” Fleury said.

Fleury is confident that he can add the first blemish to Edward’s spotless record as an amateur and professional fighter.

"He’s an athletic southpaw and a lot of people have found him quite tricky to deal with. I’ve trained with him once or twice and that’s the reason why I want this fight so much.

“I feel like I can deal with this guy very, very easily and it’s just giving me the opportunity to do that,” he said.

Fleury is unsure that he will get the opportunity to face off against Edwards though. He believes that Bellator want to protect Edwards and that he presents too much of a risk to their plans to push Edwards.

Proclaiming himself to be “by far the best middleweight in Ireland,” Fleury thinks he is deserving of more promotion from Bellator.

“It just doesn’t seem to have taken off.

"Bellator had a press conference yesterday and if anyone is going to make it on a world stage it’s me - beating tons of legit guys,” Fleury said.

The 30-year-old also explained how he prepares for a fight, saying that his training partners are intimidated by him.

“They don’t like to see me coming and that’s a good thing I think. But at the same time, I’m not going to be a dickhead to them.

“I’m not going to go out and really try to affect them personally.

"I want them to know that if Will shows up that they’re going to get some hard rounds today,” he said.
