WATCH: Lawyer whose rant about Liverpool fans went viral is fired via YouTube

The phenomenon of fans making increasingly angry and outrageous statements for the benefit of YouTube videos after matches has been on the rise since Andy Tate became a viral star for his comments on David Moyes.

Tate aside, there have been any number of fans who are more than willing to share (or fake) their disgust at a team's performance or a group of fans in order to get some camera time.

Few, it would seem, give much thought to the consequences of shouting their opinions down a lens for the internet to see, but even Tate eventually found that being hounded by people on Twitter and Facebook became too much for him and asked to be left alone.

The consequences for one particular Chelsea fan are much worse today, however, after Clive O'Connell was filmed reacting to Liverpool's win over the Blues at Stamford Bridge at the end of October.

In the video, he calls the Liverpool fans "Scouse scum", before adding that they were "scum Scouse idiots, nasty horrible people".

After the video hit YouTube, the Liverpool Echo did some digging and found out that O'Connell was a lawyer who worked for Goldberg Segalla, an international firm.

They have decided that they are going to part company with O'Connell as a result of his statements, saying that "respect, tolerance, kindness, diversity, charity, they aren't mere words our amorphous concepts to us, we're true to those values. Clive O'Connell's comments are entirely inconsistent with our ethos, his words are offensive plain and simple. His conduct doesn't rise to the standards to which we hold ourselves".

However, their method of doing so has come as a bit of a surprise, as they decided to issue a YouTube video from Managing Partner Rick Cohen in which they explain their decision.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard, O'Connell said that "I let my emotions get the better of me. I clearly regret this and any offence that I may have caused by my hot headed and regrettable reaction, which was inappropriate whether or not caught on camera".

Despite that apology, the firm have decided to terminate their partnership with him effective immediately.
