VIDEO: How are the Superbowl footballs made?

With the Super Bowl just days away, our friends across the pond are once again obsessed with tossing the pig skin and watching the adverts. Before the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks go head to head in Arizona on Sunday, spare a thought for the craftsmanship that goes into preparing the balls for the occasion – whether or not they get fully inflated when they reach the stadium is an entirely different matter.

The New York Times recently released a video showcasing the care and attention paid to sewing up the balls in the Wilson Football Factory of Ada, Ohio. The Midwestern institution has been responsible for crafting every NFL Superbowl ball since 1941, these days producing about 4,000 balls every day.

The beautifully-produced video shows how the balls are sewn together, flipped inside out, stitched up and shaped. Check it out below:
