The Kick Off: Minor action in Tullamore

GAELIC GAMES

Eamonn Fitzmaurice and Jim Gavin will be paying close attention to this Saturday's remaining football championship quarter-finals after their sides recorded comfortable wins at Croke Park yesterday.

Dublin teed up a last-four meeting with either Donegal or Mayo after coming out on top against Fermanagh.

Despite dominating most of the game, a couple of late goals from Pete McGrath's side put a gloss on the scoreline with the match finishing up 2-23 to 2-15.

Kerry, meanwhile, will face either Monaghan or Tyrone in the next round.

They distmantled Kildare in the second-half of yesterday's match - 7-16 to 10 points the final score.

Kingdom boss, Fitzmaurice, knows his side's next game is going to be a much bigger tests.

There's a pair of minor All-Ireland quarter-finals at O'Connor Park in Tullamore this afternoon.

Kerry's youngsters will look to emulate the exploits of the county's senior side yesterday as they come up against a Sligo team still licking their wounds from a Connacht final replay defeat to Galway.

Sligo make two changes to that team, with Kevin Banks coming in for Cathal Herron and Brian Mahon replacing Oisin Gilmartin.

The Kingdom, meanwhile, have made three alterations to the Munster final-winning side.

John Mark Foley, Brandon Barrett and Bryan Sweeney are drafted in for Michael Foley and the injured pair, Cormac Linnane and captain Mark O'Connor.

That's off at 2, and followed by the meeting of Galway and Tipp.

Galway are unchanged from the Connacht final replay for the game that throws-in at 4.

SOCCER

An Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain strike gave Arsenal a 1-0 win against Chelsea in yesterday's Community Shield at Wembley.

Petr Cech made his debut for the Gunners in the win and it was the defensive effort of his side that victorious manager Arsene Wenger was particularly pleased with at full-time.

RACING

There's racing in Cork and Naas this Bank Holiday Monday afternoon.

The first at Cork goes to post at five-past 2, while the racing on the Kildare course gets underway 20 minutes later.
