The Kick Off: Ireland could have two golds by this evening

SOCCER

After Manchester United's victory over Aston Villa last night, the second weekend of the Premier League continues this afternoon.

Southamton and Everton both go in search of their first wins of the campaign as they meet at St. Mary's in the early game at 12.45pm.

Then, there are five games down for decision at 3pm.

Norwich make the trip to Sunderland, while fellow new-boys Watford host West Brom.

Spurs welcome Stoke to White Hart Lane, Swansea will look to build on last week's draw at Stamford Bridge with a win at home to Newcastle, and West Ham and Leicester square off after both recording victories on the opening weekend.

BOXING

There are two gold medals on the line in Bulgaria for Irish boxers later.

First into the ring at the European Championships is Michael Conlan in the 56kg category.

He is up against Britain's Qais Ashfaq who he beat to claim gold in the Commenwealth games.

Westmeath's Joe Ward then takes on Peter Mullenberg of the Netherlands in the light heavyweight decider.

RUGBY

There is another chance for Ireland to get some action in ahead of next month's World Cup this afternoon as they take on Scotland.

Jack Conan is handed his debut as Joe Schmidt makes 14 changes to the side that cruised past Wales last week.

Mike Ross is the only player to survive from that side, with Sean O'Brien handed the captain's role at No 8.

Ian Madigan is handed only his fourth test start, while Dave Kearney could be sprung from the bench to make his first appearance since the 2014 Six Nations.

Luke Fitzgerald can lay claim to the number 11 jersey with a good showing today, while Simon Zebo is in at full-back.

Kick-off at the Aviva is at 5pm.

RACING

The action continues at Tramore today, with the first off at 4.10pm.
