The Kick Off: A great Day for Jason at the USPGA

GOLF

Jason Day says he feels like his first Major title has been a "long time coming".

The Australian won the USPGA Championship by three shots - finishing on -20, which is a record score for one golf's big four tournaments.

The 27 year old had already six "Top 5" finishes in majors before his win at Whistling Straits.

Jordan Spieth finished second to cap of a historic year and has overtaken Rory McIlroy as the world number one.

GAELIC GAMES

Shane Maloney was the hero for Galway yesterday afternoon, scoring a point in injury time to defeat Tipperary. The win ensured the Westerners first All Ireland final since since 2012.

0-26 to 3-16 was the final score in Croke Park. Seamus Callinan's hat trick was not enough for Tipperary despite being named man of the match.

It wasn't all bad for Tipperary yesterday their minors beat Dublin 2-17 to 1-15 and they'll meet Galway in the final after their dramatic win over Kilkenny.

3-10 to 0-17 in that replay.

In Camogie, Cork will play Galway in the final after they overcame Kilkenny in yesterday's semi final.

4-10 to 1-10 was the final score in Walsh Park in Waterford.

SOCCER

Manchester City are the new early leaders of the Premier League.

Last season's runners-up swept aside champions Chelsea 3-0 at Eastlands to put five points between themselves and Jose Mourinho's side.

Arsenal bounced back from the opening day loss to defeat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

Tonight, Bournemouth make the long journey north to Anfield to face Liverpool in their ever away Premier League fixture.

HORSE RACING

There is a seven race card tonight in Roscommon. The first goes to post at 5.15pm.
