SOCCER
Dundalk remain in contention to reach the next round of the Champions League qualifiers after a narrow defeat in Belarus.
Stephen Kenny's side were beaten 2-1 by their hosts BATE Borisov in the first-leg of their second round qualifier, but will be looking to build on Dave McMillan's away goal in the return leg next week at Oriel Park.
The League of Ireland champions were a match for their hosts during the opening half, with McMillan cancelling out Borisov's opening goal before the home side regained the lead just minutes later.
The Belarusian champions dominated the second-half but the Dundalk defence was able to hold firm, which will give them confidence going into the return leg.
Meanwhile, Celtic have made a winning start to their bid for Champions League qualification.
The Hoops have beaten Stjarnan of Iceland 2-0 tonight in the first-leg of their qualifier clash at Parkhead.
Goals in either half from Dedryck Boyata and Stefan Johansen put Celtic in control of the tie ahead of the return leg.

Clare are through to the final of the Bord Gáis Energy Munster U21 Championship after a thrilling win over Waterford at Cusack Park.
The defending All-Ireland champions remain on course for a possible four-in-a-row after a 0-23 to 1-18 victory in Ennis.
Clare dominated the second-half after trailing by a point at the break, but despite a goal from Waterford's Patrick Curran, the home side claimed a deserved victory that sets up a showdown against the winners of tomorrow's semi-final between Limerick and Tipperary at the Gaelic Grounds.
CYCLING
Ireland's Dan Martin has moved up to 16th place overall after an agonising second place finish in today's 11th Stage of the Tour de France.
Martin was named as the most aggressive rider of the day as he finished a minute behind Poland's Rafal Majka.
Team Sky's Chris Froome remains in the race leader's yellow jersey.
PARALYMPICS
Nicole Turner had to settle for a sixth place finish in the final of the women's 50-metre butterfly S-6 class at the Paralympic Swimming World Championships in Glasgow.
The 13-year-old Laois teenager is appearing in her first World Championships.
Meanwhile, James Scully also finished in sixth place in the 200m S-5 Freestyle final after recording a season's best time.
