TENNIS
Novak Djokovic will have to wait until tomorrow to see if he can complete his last-16 comeback at Wimbledon.
The defending champion's fourth round match against Kevin Anderson has been suspended due to bad light at the All England Club.
The organisers took the decision to call the players off, right after Djokovic had levelled the match at two sets apiece after fighting back from two sets down.
Anderson stunned the crowd on Court No 1 by winning the first two sets in tie-breakers. But Djokovic fought back brilliantly to claim the next two sets and force the match into a second day.
Earlier, there were wins for Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Maria Sharapova and women's top-seed Serena Williams, who defeated her elder sister, Venus in straight sets.
GOLF
Rory McIlroy looks likely to miss out on defending his Open Championship title after injuring himself playing football.
The World No 1 suffered ruptured ligaments in his left ankle and has withdrawn from this week's Scottish Open.
The 26-year-old has not yet ruled himself out of next week's Open at St. Andrew's. But medical opinion suggests that he will need up to 12 weeks to fully recover.
In other McIlroy-related news, a Fox News reporter was caught calling him a "leprechaun" live on television.
GAA
Semple Stadium will play host to a triple-header of qualifiers this Saturday after the GAA confirmed the fixture details for Round 2 of the hurling qualifiers and Round 2B of the football qualifiers.
Both of this weekend's hurling fixtures will be held in Thurles, with Dublin versus Limerick first up at 5pm, before the all Munster-clash between Cork and Clare at 7pm.
The curtain-raiser to that hurling double-header will be the football qualifier between Tipperary and Louth, which will get underway at 2:45pm.
CYCLING
Ireland's Dan Martin finished in fourth place today on stage three of the Tour de France.
Martin agonisingly missed-out on a podium finish after a controversial day of action that was overshadowed by a high-speed crash that forced the race to be stopped for 15 minutes to allow riders to receive medical attention.
Former leader Fabian Cancellara was among the riders to suffer injuries and the Swiss has subsequently been forced to withdraw from the rest of this year's race after suffering two fractured vertebrae.
Spain's Joaquim Rodriguez won today's stage, with Team Sky's Chris Froome finishing second to take over the race leader's yellow jersey.
