The Final Whistle: Mayo reveal the team they hope to lead them to another final

GAA

Mayo have named their team ahead of Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final battle with Dublin.

Joint managers Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly have made just one change from the side that defeated Donegal in the quarter-finals as Chris Barrett returns to the Mayo defence in place of the injured Tom Cunniffe.

Goalkeeper David Clarke has been retained between the posts, despite concerns about an adductor muscle injury that forced him off during that win over Donegal.

Midfielder Barry Moran has been named to start at corner-forward.

SOCCER

Manchester United have booked their place in tomorrow's draw for the Champions League group stages.

Wayne Rooney ended his goal-scoring drought in style with a superbly taken hat-trick to help United to a 4-0 win over their hosts Club Brugge in Belgium.

Ander Herrera got the other for United as they claimed an emphatic 7-1 victory on aggregate.

Everton were forced into extra-time by League One club Barnsley in tonight's second-round tie in the Capital One Cup.

Barnsley raced into a 2-0 lead at Oakwell before Everton fought their way back to force a 3-3 draw after 90 minutes.

However, the Premier League side went on to win 5-3 ahead after an own-goal from Barnsley's Marc Roberts and a late Romelu Lukaku finish.

ATHLETICS

There was disappointment for the three Irish athletes in action today at the World Championships in Beijing.

Kelly Proper, Ciara Everard and Ben Reynolds were all unable to advance from their heats at the Bird's Nest Stadium.

Also on the track, Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin both won their 200 metres semi-finals to set-up another showdown after last Sunday's 100 metre final.

Elsewhere, South Africa's Wayde van Niekerk stormed to victory in the men's 400 metres in a stunning time of 43.48 seconds.

CRICKET

Kevin O'Brien has been ruled out of tomorrow's One Day International against Australia.

The veteran all-rounder has been ruled-out of the game at Stormont with a hamstring injury and his place in the squad has gone to Max Sorenson.
