Sligo are to play Mayo in the Connacht football final. They defeated Roscommon in Markievicz Park in the provincial semi final.
The home side won by 1-14 to 0-13. Adrian Marren was the star for Sligo. He scored the games only goal.
The first big shock of the football Championship took place earlier with Antrim coming from 9 points behind to beat Laois this afternoon.
A late goal from Dermot Aleese secured the comeback, with the match ending on a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-16.
Offaly and Cavan are also through to the next round of the qualifiers.
They've beaten Waterford and London respectively this afternoon.
Longford defeated Carlow in the late game in the qualifiers.
GOLF
Day 3 of the US Open is underway at Chambers Bay, with Rory McIlroy the first of the Irish on the course.
The Northern Irishman has just teed off as he resumes his week on four-over par.
Shane Lowry is the best of the Irish on 1-under. He will be teeing off before 10pm.
Out in front are American duo Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed on 5-under, with Branden Grace and Dustin Johnson a further shot back.
BOXING
It has been confirmed that Andy Lee will fight Billy Joe Saunders in Thomond Park this September.
The World Champion will face the Englishman at the home of Munster rugby after much speculation in recent months.
Saturday the 19th of September is the date of the bout on a big weekend for Irish sport, with Ireland in Rugby World Cup action against Canada on the same day and the All-Ireland football final the day after.
EUROPEAN GAMES
Adam Nolan and Dean Gardiner are both through to the last 8 of their respective divisions in men's boxing.
Both fighters came out on top against Italian opposition this afternoon.
Sean McComb also won his lightweight bout, but Myles Casey and Michaela Walsh fell to defeat.
Elsewhere, Kieran Behan just missed out on a medal in the men's floor exercise competition, finishing fourth in today's final.
HORSE RACING
Frankie Dettori secured his third winner of the week as he rode 'Undrafted' to victory in the feature race at Ascot today - the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
The 14-to-1 shot came from behind to beat Australian raider, Brazen Beau, in a race dominated by non-British horses.
