GAELIC GAMES 

Kilkenny secured a 70th Leinster Hurling title this afternoon with a 1-25 to 2-15 win over Galway at Croke Park. 

Limerick got their campaign back on track with a 4-15 to 1-12 victory over Westmeath at Cusack Park in Mullingar - they move through to tomorrow morning’s qualifier draw. 

Kerry and Cork will return to Fitzgerald Stadium in just under a fortnight’s time after they finished level in this afternoon’s Munster Football final. 

Kerry 2-15 Cork 3-12 was the final score in Killarney. 

Meanwhile, Antrim’s qualifier dream is over after they lost 1-21 to 0-11 to Fermanagh today.

 

GOLF

Leona Maguire is still right in contention as the Ladies European Masters reaches a dramatic conclusion at the Buckinghamshire.

The world number one ranked amateur is 11-under with three holes to play, just a shot off the lead of Beth Allen. 

A final round 65 has seen Bernd Wiesberger claim victory at the French Open. 

The Austrian ended the weekend on 12-under par, two clear of James Morrison. 

Michael Hoey finished best of the Irish on 6-over, while Damien McGrane finished on 8-over. 

The leaders are back out in an hours time at the Greenbrier Classic in West Virginia. 

The American trio of Jason Bohn, Sean O'Hair and Bryce Molder are joined by Korean Sung Joon Park. They are the men to catch on 11-under.

They are one clear of another quartet on 10-under, while Tiger Woods is 4-under after a 71. 

 

HOCKEY

Ireland’s men’s side have given themselves a huge chance of qualifying for next year’s Olympics. 

They finished in 5th place at the Hockey World League event in Antwerp following a 4-1 win over Malaysia today.

They will not know for sure whether they have reached Rio until all the continental championships are completed.

 

SWIMMING 

Limerick swimmer Fiona Doyle has secured qualification for next year’s Olympic Games. 

Doyle achieved the required time by finishing fourth in her semi-final of the 100-metre breaststroke at the World University Games in Korea. 

The final of that event takes place at 11am, Irish time tomorrow morning. 

 

SOCCER

Defending champions Japan take on the United States in the final of the Women's World Cup tonight. 

Vancouver hosts the decider, with kick off at midnight Irish time. 

 

FORMULA ONE 

Lewis Hamilton has moved 17-points clear at the top of the Drivers standings following his victory in the British Grand Prix. 

He took the chequered flag at Silverstone ahead of Mercedes team-mate and championship rival Nico Rosberg. 

 

CYCLING

Andre Greipel  powered past Mark Cavendish to claim the second stage of the 2015 Tour de France

Fabian Cancellara has snatched the leader’s yellow jersey away from Rohan Dennis.

Dan Martin is 57th on general classification, Sam Bennett is 85th, while Sky’s Nicolas Roche is already nearly six minutes down on Cancellara in 105th.
