Joe Molloy was joined by Tommy Martin of TV3 and Mario Rosenstock for this week's Sunday Paper Review on Off The Ball.
Earlier this month, The Sunday Times broke a huge story about the widespread use of performance enhancing substances in athletics, and the extent of the problem within the sport on a global scale, casting doubts over a number of medalists and events in recent years. The panel discussed how Ireland's Rob Heffernan has put forward his blood data to ensure that people know he has been completing clean, and where that leaves other athletes in the build up to the World Championships later this month.
In the wake of Jose Mourinho's altercation with the Chelsea medical staff, in particular Dr. Eva Carneiro, the panel asked whether Mourinho has possibly gotten himself into more trouble than he thought he would when he first launched his scathing attack on her last weekend.
Rosenstock also shared his own story of meeting Jose Mourinho a few years ago during the Portuguese's first spell in charge at Chelsea, and how he had an air of complete control and respect from his players. He also spoke about the fact that he asked Mario to play a trick on an injured Damien Duff, telling him that he would need to play despite his broken foot.
The feel good story of Shane Lowry's win made headlines last Sunday, and was still talked about by the panel this week, as they examined just why Lowry is so popular here at home. They covered the contrast between Lowry and Tiger Woods in terms of personality, and whether or not the former world number one might suddenly call it a day some time soon.
