SOCCER

Shay Given says his Aston Villa teammate Jack Grealish is confused about whether or not to play for Ireland.

Given and Grealish were part of the team that beat Liverpool in Sunday's FA Cup semi final a game in which Grealish excelled.

The Donegal man says it's a tough time for the Ireland under 21 attacker.

Liverpool aren't commenting on reports that Jordan Henderson has agreed to sign a lucrative new five-year contract at the club.

Several newspapers believe the England midfielder will get a deal worth £100,000 a week

Henderson is currently the vice-captain at Anfield, and he's favourite to take over the armband full-time from departing skipper Steven Gerrard.

In the Champions league, there's two quarter final second legs tonight.

Barcelona host Paris Saint Germain leading 3-1 from the first leg while Bayern Munich take on Porto trailing 3-1 from the first leg.

Ahead of that game Bayern boss Pep Guardiola has reiterated his desire to see out his contract with the German champions.

The former Barcelona head coach has been repeatedly linked with taking over at Manchester City - whose manager, Manuel Pellegrini, is under pressure.

In the SSE Airtricity league, a Richie Towell hat trick gave leaders Dundalk a 3-0 win over Galway United while second placed Cork City earned a 2-0 victory at home to Longford.

Garry Buckley and Colin Healy scored the goals for John Caulfield's side.

In the other games Shamrock Rovers stay third with a 3-0 win away to Bray while Limerick stay bottom after a 2-0 defeat at home to Derry.

St Pats lost ground on the top 3 with a 2-2 draw at home to Drogheda while Sligo Rovers drew 0-0 with Bohemians at the Showgrounds.

SNOOKER

Stuart Bingham reached the second round of the World Championship last night after holding off a challenge from world number 58 Robbie Williams.

He won 10-7 at the Crucible.

Ali Carter leads Alan McManus 6-3 after the first session of their match.

Five-time winner Ronnie O'Sullivan gets his campaign underway this afternoon.

He takes on fellow Englishman Craig Steadman.
