RUGBY

Former Ireland, Leinster and Munster forward Trevor Hogan says there's no way Leinster head coach Matt O'Connor should lose his position at the end of the season.

The province's chances of reaching the Guinness Pro 12 semi finals ended last weekend but Hogan admits games lost earlier in the season must be reexamined to find the source of their problems.

Hogan told last night's Off the Ball that O'Connor should stay, although questions need to be asked.

SOCCER

It's a huge night for Liverpool who can launch themselves back into the Champions League running tonight when they face Hull.

A win would move them to within four points of fourth placed Manchester United.

The hosts are just one point above the drop zone and will be without the suspended David Meyler.

Reds Manager Brendan Rodgers says United defeat to Everton on Sunday has given his side renewed hope they can qualify for the Champions League.

Eddie Howe appears to have guided Bournemouth to the top flight of English football for the first time in their history.

A 3-0 victory over Bolton moved them three points and a +19 goal difference ahead of third placed Middlesbrough, with only one Championship game left to play.

Howe saved the club from dropping out of the Football League six years ago.

Both him and Brett Pittman have left and come back again since then - and the forward explains how the manager has helped turned things around.

SNOOKER

There are three quarter final sessions today at the World Championships in the Crucible.

At 10am Anthony McGill plays Shaun Murphy and Ding Junhui meets Judd Trump, those matches will resume this evening at 7pm.

In the afternoon session at 2.30pm Barry Hawkins plays Neil Robertson and Stuart Bingham takes on Ronnie O'Sullivan.

RACING

The Punchestown festival begins today in county Kildare.

The first race is off at 3.40pm.
