SOCCER

Mario Balotelli's late winner last night has helped to keep Liverpool's Champions League hopes alive.

The controversial Italian came off the bench to score his first Premier League goal for the Reds as they claimed a dramatic 3-2 win over Tottenham.

The result moves Liverpool within 3 points of third-place Southampton.

Arsenal are up to fourth after holding-out for a 2-1 win over bottom-of-the-table Leicester.

QPR and Hull both moved out of the drop zone after wins over Sunderland and Aston Villa respectively, with Villa now slipping into the bottom three.

There's more action tonight in the Premier League.

Chelsea start the night with a seven-point lead as they prepare to host Everton at Stamford Bridge while second-placed Man City will need to step-up their chase as they visit Stoke.

In tonight's other 7:45 kick-offs, Man United host Burnley at Old Trafford and Southampton entertain West Ham.

Newcastle go up against former manager Alan Pardew as they make the trip to Crystal Palace, and West Brom entertain Swansea at the Hawthorns (8.0).

In tonight's only game in the Championship, Nottingham Forest play host to a struggling Wigan side (7:45).

And in the Scottish Premiership, leaders Celtic visit Partick Thistle (7:45).

GAA

There's quarter-final action in the Sigerson Cup this afternoon.

The meeting of St Mary's and DCU will take place in Belfast from 2pm.

RACING

There's racing at Down Royal today.

The first of a seven-race card goes to post at 1.30.
