SOCCER

In the Premier league, Manchester United defender Johnny Evans and Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse may find themselves in trouble following a spitting incident last night.

TV images appeared to show Evans spitting towards Cisse during their 1-0 win while Cisse appeared to spit back.

But it's not clear whether it was actually directed at the ground.

Ashley Young's goal for the Reds keeps them fourth while Arsenal stay third after a 2-1 win away to QPR.

Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez got the goals for the Gunners.

Liverpool have kept the pressure on United and Arsenal in their battle for a top-four finish.

They're two points off the Champions League places following last night's 2-0 win over Burnley at Anfield.

Jordan Henderson's wonder-strike in the first half was followed by a second-half goal from Daniel Sturridge.

Chelsea remain top of the standings after a 1-0 win over West Ham, while Man City are still five points behind the leaders after they were comfortable 2-0 winners over Leicester.

There were also wins for Stoke and Tottenham over Everton and Swansea respectively.
