SOCCER

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says he can't quite believe the scheduling of the FA Cup quarter-final replays.

The Reds drew 0-0 with Blackburn yesterday - but they will likely have to wait for a month to settle the tie because the game can't clash with UEFA competitions or an international break.

Reading and Bradford will probably have to replay next Monday, and Rodgers says they haven't got as rough a deal as those teams.

"It's certainly not what it is for Reading and Bradford, which is unbelievable," said the Ulsterman. "I feel for them two teams having to pay on a Saturday and play a game on a Monday.

"It's unfair to both clubs, they put so much into their game the other day. Now they'll have to play a league game, and play on a Monday. There's so much at stake, and now this."

Holders Arsenal go to Manchester United tonight in what looks to be the tie of the quarter-finals.

The draw for the last four follows that match.

Aston Villa are the only side guaranteed a place at Wembley, following their weekend win over West Brom.

Here at home, there's first-round action in the EA Sports Cup, with UCD taking on Cabinteely in a south Dublin derby.

Galway United welcome Finn Harps to Eamon Deacy Park.

CYCLING

Up to 90 per cent of professional cyclists continue to use performance-enhancing drugs - according to one estimate in a major report into the state of the sport.

The Cycling Independent Reform Commission found doping remains widespread, with cyclists micro-dosing to avoid being caught.

The report, commissioned by governing body the UCI, says the previous leadership failed to follow anti-doping rules and showed preferential treatment to shamed cyclist Lance Armstrong.

GAELIC FOOTBALL

Cork's footballers rounded off a fine weekend for the Rebels in the Allianz Leagues, handsomely beating Munster rivals Kerry in Division One yesterday.

Mayo stayed top by virtue of their 2-12 to 1-13 defeat of Derry.

While Monaghan came away the better from a dour game with Donegal in Letterkenny.

HURLING

Galway are right in contention for a place in the knockout stages of the league following their 20-18 defeat of reigning League and All-Ireland champs Kilkenny.

Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald is refusing to panic following their latest defeat - a 2-19 to 0-20 reversal to Tipperary in Ennis.

Limerick went second in Division 1B, after beating Wexford in a seven-goal thriller at Wexford Park.

While Laois got their first win with a 1-18 to 1-14 defeat of Antrim.

RUGBY

It's back to the training pitch for the Ireland rugby squad today, ahead of Saturday's Six Nations trip to Cardiff.

Ulster's 26-22 defeat away to the Dragons completed a poor weekend for Irish sides against Welsh opposition.

All four provinces lost in the principality, but Ulster's losing bonus-point saw them leapfrog Munster into second in the PRO12 table.

GOLF

Rory McIlroy finished with a tie for ninth at the Cadillac Championship, the first WGC event of the year.

A final-round 72 saw him end the weekend on 1-under par, eight shots adrift of eventual winner Dustin Johnson.

Shane Lowry's disappointing 74 left him on 1-over.

CRICKET

England are taking on Bangladesh in a World Cup Pool A match in Adelaide.

England won the toss and put their opponents in to bat, and a short time ago, Bangladesh were 275 for 7.

Ireland take on India in Hamilton in the small hours of tomorrow morning.
