There are many examples of players making waves in the AIL before taking the assured step up to provincial rugby.
One of those is Leinster's Mick McGrath, who has made it into the 2014/15 senior squad after starring with Clontarf.
Indeed, the 23-year-old was the Dublin club's top try scorer last season.
As part of the Ulster Bank League awards, Off The Ball's Adrian Barry caught up with the young winger to find out more about him.
The Ulster Bank League Awards are returning for a third successive year and McGrath is a former recipient of the award for top try scorer.
