Phil Thompson thinks Liverpool winning ugly against Burnley on Friday could be the "turning point" in their season.
The Reds face Swansea at Anfield tonight and their former skipper told Newstalk's Breakfast that Brendan Rodgers’ side can kick on from their gritty 1-0 victory at Turf Moor.
“Maybe this was the turning point because the performances have been better of late,” said Sky Sports pundit Thompson of their St Stephen’s Day triumph.
“It wasn't good enough against Burnley but (Liverpool) got the right result – and you seen what Burnley did yesterday to Manchester City (drawing 2-2).”
Thompson also urged supporters and the club to get behind under-fire goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, and says Rodgers should have bought Swans striker Wilfred Bony during the summer.
