Bayern Munich remain top of Bundesliga ahead of Der Klassiker

Bayern Munich will take a four-point lead into Tuesday's trip to their Bundesliga title rivals Borussia Dortmund for Der Klassiker.

The defending champions restored their four-point buffer at the summit with a 5-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena on Saturday night.

Goals from Leon Goretzka, Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski had the hosts 3-0 up before Frankurt defender Martin Hinteregger scored his 7th and 8th goals in the season in a four minute spell.

Canadian speedster Alphonso Davies put Bayern back in control in the 61st minute before an own goal from Hinteregger sealed the three points for Hans-Dieter Flick's side.

Bayern Munich now have 16 wins in their last 17 games while it's five defeats in-a-row for struggling Frankfurt.

Goals in either half from Raphael Guerreiro and Achraf Hakimi gave second place Borussia Dortmund a 2-0 win away to Wolfsburg earlier this afternoon to keep pressure on Bayern.

Bayer Leverkusen moved up to third place with a 3-1 victory at their top four rivals Borussia Monchengladbach with rising star Kai Havertz scoring twice for Leverkusen.

Gladbach had placed cardboard cutouts of 20,000 of their supporters in the stadium to witness the defeat.

Werder Bremen boosted their hopes of survival with a 1-0 win at Freiburg while it finished 1-all between Paderborn and Hoffenheim.
