Arsenal players break lockdown rules

Arsenal players David Luiz, Granit Xhaka, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe have been spoken to by the club for breaking UK government coronavirus guidelines.

Arsenal were forced to get in contact with the players after videos and pictures showed them out and about despite the guidelines.

The Gunners' record signing Pepe was filmed playing football with some friends in North London, Xhaka and Luiz met up at a park in London and Lacazette was photographed having his car washed by a valet company.

An Arsenal spokesman told The Sun: "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’ll be speaking to our players.

"We were concerned so we have spoken to Nicolas who shares a house with a number of relatives who were involved in this game.

"We have reminded him of the importance of everyone following the guidelines."

The Arsenal quartet are the latest footballers to have broken the guidelines put in place in order to stop the further spread of COVID-19, which has claimed the lives of more than 18,000 people in the UK.

The football season has been on hold since March and it's still unclear when the Premier League will resume.

Earlier this week Tottenham defender Serge Aurrier posted a video of him training in public alongside teammate Moussa Sissoko.

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho hit the headlines a few weeks ago when he was forced to apologise for conducting an outdoor training session with the club’s record signing Tanguy Ndombele.

The same day Spurs defenders Davinson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon were also spotted running together in another park session.

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish was also caught out when he was pictured at the scene of car crash 24 hours after posting a video urging people to stay indoors and to follow the guidelines.

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker was fined by the club for holding a party in his house and he too had to make an apology.
