Arsenal are not yet out of the title race - Mark Lawrenson

Mark Lawrenson believes in the Arsenal rebound after Wednesday Night.

Former Liverpool and Ireland international Mark Lawrenson joined The Football Show to discuss Arsenal.

Arsenal suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland scored for the away side. Bukayo Saka slotted home a penalty in response. Arsenal had plenty of chances, Eddie Nketieh headed wide twice and Saka missed a chance when he refused to shoot with his right foot inside the box.

After successive bad results against Everton and Brentford, the City result officially puts Arsen a slump.

A potentially title-deciding slump.

But Mark Lawrenson doesn't think that Arsenal will go away quietly. He doesn't expect them to simply wilt because of this loss. Arsenal still have a game in hand and are on the same points total as Man City.

"They've got more than that in all honesty," Lawrenson said.

"The only problem is that the team now in front of them could very well almost win every single game. That's the worry. But no I think there's another manager in Arteta who is driven and it will be interesting what he says."

Lawrenson believes that Arsenal have the talent and the experience in their squad to rebound, but he thinks it will be interesting to see how Arteta handles the challenge. He is very much a player's manager and Lawrenson wonders if he will have to be sterner or show more emotion to redirect the team.

"He keeps saying, the recent results, the draw at home against Brentford and the loss at Everton, 'I love my players and they do everything for me.' He's very much a modern kind of manager. But there will be doubts. There always are doubts.

"You don't sit next to your mates in the dressing room and think 'We've had it.'"

Kevin De Bruyne was the difference against Arsenal.
