Tom Brady to stay at Tampa Bay beyond his 45th birthday

Seven-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Tom Brady has pledged his future to Tampa Bay by signing a contract extension.

The 43-year-old led the Bucs to a Super Bowl victory in his maiden season in Florida and he's now set to remain in Tampa until at the least the end of the 2022 campaign.

"In pursuit of eight," Brady wrote on his instagram page. "Buccaneers, we're keeping the band together."

Brady has thrown the most touchdown passes in NFL history and won three NFL Most Valuable Player titles while also being named Super Bowl MVP on five occasions.

"When we acquired Tom a year ago, we were extremely excited about the leadership, poise and winning track record that he would bring to our locker room," Bucs general manager Jason Licht said of the extension.

"Since that time, he has proven himself to be the ultimate competitor and delivered in every way we had imagined, helping us capture the Lombardi Trophy.

"Year after year, Tom proves that he remains one of the elite quarterbacks in this game and we couldn't be happier to keep him in Tampa Bay as we continue to pursue our goals together."
