A mini Patriots reunion is on the cards, with Rob Gronkowski set to end his retirement to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Patriots agreed to trade Gronkowski to Tampa pending a medical according to numerous outlets in the United States.
Gronkowski (30) announced his retirement on March 24 2019, just over a month after winning his third Super Bowl ring with the Patriots.
"Pending the physical, Rob has agreed to play for Tampa this season", Gronkowski's agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN.
"He will honour his current contract at this time."
Gronkowski had one year remaining on his New England deal, despite his retirement, worth $9million (€8.28million).
In return for the final year of his contract, the Patriots will receive a fourth-round draft pick, while the Bucs will receive a seventh-round pick.
He is the reigning WWE 24/7 champion, a title he won while hosting this year's Wrestlemania.
A source told ESPN that Gronkowski has already taken his physical with a neutral physician and passed "with flying colours."
The Boston Herald say 'Gronk' forced through the move as he wanted to be reunited with his former Patriots quarterback in Tampa.
The Herald speculate that Pats head coach Bill Belichick was happy to see a man who turns 31 next month, and has a questionable mentality, leave the franchise.
