Cian Fahey is not buying the rumours that Tom Brady wants to show that he’s able to perform at the top level without Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
The American football analyst was speaking on The Snap about Brady’s future options and expects the six-time Super Bowl champion to stay in New England.
“I just can’t see what the Patriots are going to do. There’s talk of them paying Brady $30 million or being willing to pay him $30 million.
“It will probably need to be a little bit more than that - probably $33 or $34 million. It’s probably a bad decision and a bad deal for them but it’s probably the best option they have.
“I don’t think this narrative of Belichick wants to prove he can do it without Brady and that Brady wants to prove he can do it without Belichick - I just don’t think there’s really anything to it.
“Maybe there is an I’m completely wrong. We’re just at the point of make or break at the minute and I don’t think he’s going to leave,” Fahey said.
Tom Brady featured in an advertisement for Hulu about the streaming service showing live sport and announced at the end that he isn’t ‘going anywhere’.
While it was unclear as to whether Brady meant he would stay with the New England Patriots or continue playing elsewhere in the NFL.
However, Fahey believed that the advertisement, aired after this year’s Super Bowl, was more about keeping Brady in the public eye.
“That Superbowl advert tells you that Brady is a fan of attention. You can’t claim that he’s not looking for a bit of media attention or a bit of his value after the Superbowl.
“It’s the biggest time of the year, talking about how you’re going to disappear and then changing and making a big witch up on everyone.
“You can’t say you’re going private and keeping to yourself and then do that after,” Fahey said.
