Aaron Cresswell commits his future to West Ham

Aaron Cresswell has signed a new contract with West Ham United and will tie him to the club until the summer of 2023.

The full-back signed for the Hammers in 2014 from Ipswich and is the third longest-serving player at the club behind captain Mark Noble and New Zealand's Winston Reid.

Speaking after signing his future with the London Stadium club, Cresswell said, “I’ve been here for six years and I’ve loved every minute of it. I want to continue that and, thankfully, to extend the stay is fantastic news for me and my family. I’m looking forward to the next few years ahead.

“We’ve got a fantastic changing room. Everyone gets on. There are no egos and everyone is together. If you want to push on and kick on in the league, then you need that team spirit and togetherness. I think we’ve certainly got that.

“We’re all on the same page – the owners, the board, the coaching team, the players and the fans. We’re all pushing in the right direction and, if we can keep doing that, we’ll be okay.”

The 29-year-old has made 160 appearances for West Ham - scoring seven goals in the process. His highlight undoubtedly so far this season has been a free-kick he scored in the club's Premier League win over Manchester United.

He has also won three caps for the England national team since making his debut in a friendly against Spain at Wembley in November 2016.

He becomes the fourth player to sign a new deal with the club this season, following Manuel Lanzini, Arthur Masuaku, and Robert Snodgrass.

West Ham are currently eighth in the Premier League table under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini, with their next outing at home to Sheffield United after the international break.
