WATCH: Tiger Woods hopeful of Masters return

Golf's former World No 1 Tiger Woods says he doing his utmost to be able to compete at this year's Masters.

The 14 time major winner saw his latest comeback suffer a setback at the Dubai Desert Classic in February after he was forced to withdraw due to severe back spasms.

Reports last Friday suggested that Woods had been unable to able to play or practice since.

Woods has suggested that his mind is sharp but that he just needs his body to be willing to endure all the stresses and strains that come with competing at the highest level.

Speaking to Good Morning America as he promotes new book The 1997 Masters: My Story, he said ,"I hope so [to play at the Masters] because I love that event. It's meant so much to me in my life. It's the first major that I ever played back in 1995 as a college student. So it has so much history and meaning to me.

"I need to get back physically, I know that. The mind is sharp. I just need to get the body willing to do it. That's the hard part, getting the prep time in and I haven't been able to get as much prep time or been able to train as much as I use to or practice like I used to, so it's been hard."
