A race official unintentionally caused chaos during a race in America, when he walked across the track, and right into the path of incoming runners.
The leading pack of a 1500m race in California, was coming up the back straight of the track, when they collided with the official.
In his attempt to get off the track to allow the participants pass by, he drifted right in front of them and knocked a few of the competitors over.

As a result of the clash, a number of athletes couldn't finish the race. One of the unfortunate few, was three-time Olympian Michael Rimmer.
He chose to see the humorous side of the incident.
